About Cultureconnectinc

We Start With the Hole in the Wall

Cultureconnectinc works on garage doors across Huntington Beach, and the part of the job we care most about is the part most quotes skip. Before anyone picks a colour, somebody has to answer two questions: how many doors should there be, and will a standard door fit the opening you already own. We are on Main St in the 92647 ZIP.

The One Door or Two Question

A two car garage can be covered by a single wide door or by two narrow ones, and both arrangements are common here. A double is cheaper to buy and cheaper to run, because it is one opener, one spring set and one install. A pair of singles costs more and gives you something a double cannot: when one door breaks you can still get a car out.

That is the whole trade in one sentence, and it is a household decision rather than a technical one. Two drivers who both leave at seven in the morning value the second door differently from a household with one car and a workbench.

Why Measuring Gets Its Own Page

A garage door is bigger than the opening it covers. It sits behind the opening and seals against the stops from the inside, which means measuring the old door and ordering to that number produces a door that does not seal.

Openings also drift. Slabs settle, headers sag, and somebody widened the hole in the nineteen eighties to fit a longer car. So we measure width at three heights and take the smallest, measure height at three points, and check headroom to the lowest obstruction rather than to the ceiling.

What We Will Tell You Not to Do

Buying a custom size when framing the opening down to a standard width would have cost a fraction of it. Replacing one of two matched doors and expecting the colours to agree. Hanging a wider door on a header that was cut and never repaired.
